Live Music Resource · Effective August 20, 2026

This policy describes what information the Live Music Resource app (the “Service”), operated by California Places LLC (“we,” “us”), collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the features need and nothing more, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.

1. Information we collect

Account. The app creates a lightweight account automatically — a random identifier, not your name or email. We never ask for a password or an email address. If you use social features, you verify a phone number; we use it to prevent abuse and to let you recover your account on a new device. Your username in the app is a randomly assigned two-word name, not your real name.

Location. With your permission, the app uses your device’s location to show shows, venues, and festivals near you, and to position you on the map. If you check in at a show, your location at that moment is used to confirm you’re at the venue. Location is used when you’re using the app; we do not track your location in the background.

Check-ins. When you choose to check in at a show, we record the event, the date, and the verification result. Check-ins are yours to delete — removing one permanently deletes it and any presence badges earned from it.

Bluetooth presence verification (optional). If you opt in, the app briefly exchanges random, rotating tokens with nearby devices at a show to strengthen attendance verification. These tokens contain no personal information, rotate every 15 minutes, stop broadcasting a few hours after the show, and cannot be used by other attendees or bystanders to identify or track you. You can decline or turn this off at any time in Settings.

Content you post. Comments, ratings, photos, and similar contributions are stored and shown to other users as part of the Service.

Preferences and app data. Your taste profile, filters, saved shows and roadtrips, notification settings, and similar preferences are backed up to our servers so a reinstall or new phone restores your setup.

Usage and diagnostics. We collect basic usage events (such as which screens are used and app version) to fix bugs and improve the Service. This is tied to the random account identifier, not your identity.

2. How we use information

To run the features described above; to back up and restore your data; to send notifications you’ve enabled; to prevent fraud, abuse, and fake check-ins; and to improve the Service. That’s it. We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use it for cross-app tracking.

3. What other users can see

Other users can see your assigned username, the content you post, and — if you enable presence features — attendance indicators (for example, a badge showing you were at a show). Other users never see your phone number, your precise location, or your identity.

4. Service providers

We use a small number of processors to run the Service: a phone verification provider (to send the verification code when you verify your number), a mapping provider (to convert coordinates to a city name when positioning you; map tiles and routing are served by our own servers), a push notification service (Apple/Google, if you enable notifications), and app store billing if you ever purchase a paid feature. Each receives only what its function requires. If you open a location in Apple Maps or Google Maps, or share content out of the app, those services receive what you send them and their policies apply.

5. Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in Settings, which deletes your account data from our servers. Individual check-ins can be permanently deleted at any time. Content you posted publicly (such as comments) is removed from display when you delete it or your account.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to what operating the Service requires. No system is perfectly secure, but we collect little enough that there isn’t much to lose.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

You can access most of your data directly in the app, delete check-ins individually, and delete your account entirely in Settings. California residents and residents of other jurisdictions with privacy laws may have additional rights (such as requesting access to or deletion of personal information); to exercise them, contact us at the address below. We do not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights, and since we don’t sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves; material changes will be indicated by updating the effective date above.
